One of Us is Lying – Karen M. McManus

“Things will always get worse, before they get better.”

One of us is Lying (Karen M. McManus)

I read #oneofusislying by Karen M. McManus. This YA Mystery kept me guessing!

📚 “On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention. Bronwyn, the brain. Cooper, the athlete. Addy, the beauty. Nate, the criminal. And Simon, the outcast with a gossip blog. Only, before the end of detention, Simon is dead. According to the investigators, his death wasn’t an accident. On Monday he died, but on Tuesday Simon had planned on posting juicy reveals about all four of his classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?” 📚

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
4/5 Stars

I really enjoyed this book. Karen McManus had me on the edge of my seat and coming up with multiple theories throughout the book. The plot wasn’t obvious or predictable which I loved. Each of the characters were unique and well developed. This is a character driven book and each chapter is told from the POV of one of the teens. The dialogue is obviously teen centered, so at certain times it seemed somewhat too teen, but the authors writing and the intriguing web she weaves made up for the occasional cheesy teen dialogue.

Disclaimer- Book contains foul language, teen drinking, teen sex (nothing explicit, but heavily implied). Also talks about teen suicide and suicide attempts. There is also obviously a murder. If any of these things trigger/bother/disturb you I would skip this book.
