About Alicia

Hello, and welcome to Alicia Reads It! I’m so glad that you stopped by to visit my blog!

My name is Alicia! I am “almost mid-30’s” wife- married to an awesome guy named Skylar. I am also a mom to 3 beautiful little girls and 3 Havanese fur babies. We currently live in Utah, USA, but in our 15 years of marriage, we have lived in 4 states and 9 different homes! You never know where life will take you and what adventures await!

I’m an avid reader and have been as long as I can remember. Some of the very first books I can remember reading were Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder and Charlotte’s Web by EB White. I was also 7 years old when Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone by J.K. Rowling came out, so I basically read and grew up right alongside Harry, Ron and Hermione. Because of this, those characters/books will always hold a special place in my heart.

Secretly, I’ve also always wanted to write a novel, but I’ve never had the gumption or courage to do so. One day I may get that novel written but for now, reading as much as I can and reviewing books that I love will have to do!

If I could get away with it, I would probably stay curled up on my couch or in my bed reading a good book all day, but since that isn’t very adult of me, I do have other hobbies and things I love to do.

I currently Homeschool my children, as well as being a stay-at-home mom. I have a Cosmetology license, and do hair from my home. I have always loved doing hair since I was small. Reading, being creative, and being a Mother are my life’s greatest passions.

I also enjoy other creative pursuits and hobbies such as music, painting/drawing, photography, baking, traveling, playing board games, watching tv and Netflix and just hanging out with the people I love the most.

I also run a small bookmark business on Etsy to fuel my book collecting and reading habit. This shop combines my love of art and reading. If you are interested in my shop, you can check it out here on Instagram and Etsy.

I created this blog to have a place to share all my reviews with people who love books as much as I do! I am also hoping to meet many more people like me in the blogging community who love to read and understand my passion for books! I am already in the #bookstagram community on Instagram, and have met many wonderful people along the way.

As a human, I have limitations and challenges that I deal with daily, and may sometimes interfere with Reading and Reviewing.

I have ADHD, along with symptoms such as Depression/Anxiety and I also suffer from chronic migraines. I have recently discovered that I have had ADHD my whole life, but as a teenager, was misdiagnosed as having clinical Depression. After my 3rd pregnancy, my doctors tacked on Anxiety disorder. Now having learned that I am neurodivergent, the depression and anxiety make more sense from a symptomatic view. I also have suffered from unexplained migraines for over 12 years since the birth of my 2nd child. These migraines have lasted sometimes up to 15 days.

Because of these things, I may have symptoms flare or times when I am left incapacitated for sometimes days at a time, especially when I get a severe migraine. When this happens, I have no choice but to take time away from my e-reader, phone and my computer since too much “screen time” exacerbates my neurological symptoms.

I mention my health conditions because:
1) I always hope to bring more awareness and break stigmas that surround mental illness.
2) So that my followers, authors, publishers, and readers understand that if I’m unable to read or review a book or am not blogging at certain times, it is because my health is limiting my abilities to function.

I do thank everyone for your understanding that my health and family must come first since blogging and reviewing books is done purely for my love and enjoyment of all things bookish (this is not my job and I do not get paid to do it).

And if you made it all the way through that….. Thank you so much!
